RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman's Course - Own Boat Training

The course is the same course as the one-day RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman’s Course but is carried out on your own boat at a location of your choice. The training may also be conducted in conjunction with assisting you to move your boat from one location to another, (subject to travel and possible overnight costs).

We have experience of training all around the country including the River Thames and Trent, Kennet and Avon, Llangollen, Grand Union, Oxford, BCN, Staffs and Worcester and Stratford Upon Avon Canals.

We are also experienced with a variety of craft and are careful to choose the right Instructor with the most relevant experience.

In accordance with the RYA rules, the course is normally for three delegates, unless your vessel is a traditional stern narrowboat where we must restrict it to two.

In order to give you the best value for money, we ask that you only use your own boat if it is fully insured, has a current boat safety certificate, a valid licence for the water being used, is well maintained and ready to cruise when our Instructor arrives. Failure to meet these criteria may result in loss of time or even loss of course fee.
