Location

Willow Wren Training is based just north of the town of Rugby on the Rugby Wharf just off the Oxford Canal.

Boat based courses enjoy the delightfully narrow characteristics of the North Oxford Canal. The Helmsman's course usually takes the eastern route past the Rugby visitor moorings, into the countryside, past Clifton Wharf and on to Hillmorton.

At Hillmorton we are able to use the duplicated, narrow locks to practice locking techniques before we turn for the journey back. At some point we find a convenient time to have lunch.

The route includes winding holes, aqueducts, busy moorings, shallows, bridges, tight bends, locks, junctions and open areas which can be challenging when windy.

Other courses might also add the route to the west which includes Newbold tunnel and some challenging turns.
